What’s in a number
Posted by just222
My story starts about the year 2000. My father was quite ill and had been suffering a while. I mentioned that I was seeing the time on the clock at 2:22. I am a nighthawk by nature and it started with the computer. I noticed I was always turning off at 2:22 or I would glance at the clock before bed and again more times than I could count the time was there.
After Dad went into hospice care the last week of life, my last words to him were one way. He was unable to speak. I said if he wanted to go without our presence he could, but it was his choice. Later that night the nurse from hospital phoned and my father had passed at 2:22. The fax I sent to the furneral home went throuh at 2:22. I kept seeing that number long after, alone with other family members. We often related our stories with one another.
I was the care giver for my Mother as well. I was able to care for her at home, and full time care came soon after my fathers death.
Mother died in November of 2007. The last evening with her, I thought she too would go late in the morning. She didn’t! The women was truly original and went in her own good time. 1:16pm was her time of death. She died with me at her side.
I was not able to declare time of death. The nurse that came to home had the responsibitly of time of death. When looking through the death certificate that I had just recieved from the funeral home that following week, I noticed she declared the time of death to be 2:22. Not me, a total stranger had posted a time at 2:22. My knees went week.
Well, I just took it as a sign all things were right with the world and that was a way of showing me we are not alone.
That December, for Christmas I found some drawings both my older sisters had done in the 4th grade. They were valentines for Mother. I had them framed at a local shop. Not finding parking on the main street. I went around the side of the shop where a few appartents had parking spaces. After finishing at the frame shop I was backing out……and the appartment I was in front of was 2:22. I knew for sure that mother was approving of the gift.
I can’t tell you how many times I see this number and now I just say hello to both my parents and remember how good things were. A true comfort.
Last evening my niece was at her son’s baseball game. They were measuring the the distance for the outfield fence, she mentioned to my sister that I should have been there because the distance was 2:22 feet….Always watching
