Been seeing this for years… don’t think it has any meaning…
Posted by wuthefwasthat

I’ve been seeing 222 and 2222 for years, but I don’t think anything of it.  I really think it’s just a phenomenon caused by

(1.) always noticing it (after all, if you’re at this website, you’re probably in the top 1% of people in the world at noticing numbers as substrings.), and

(2.) seeing lots of numbers in every day life.

I mentioned this to my sister at some point, and she started seeing 222 too.  I suspect many of us got started on this by seeing the 222 a few times in short succession (or perhaps the time 22:22), and then kept noticing it thereafter.

Regarding the second point:

I’d think that we see hundreds of random-ish three digit numbers every day.  Every thousand of these will be a 222.

Think about it – each 7 digit phone number is 5 chances to see a three digit string.  There are tons of miscellaneous random-ish numbers scattered about everyday life, including bar code numbers, credit card numbers, house numbers, zip codes, license plate numbers, etc…

Plus, tons of numbers are skewed towards smaller digits.  For example, room numbers are much more likely to be 222 than other 3-digit numbers.  The time is much more likely to be 2:22 or 12:22 than 9:99.  Days for dates only go up to 31.  Prices (menus, receipts, etc) probably also are skewed towards smaller digits.

Given all this, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if we saw variants of the number 222 or 2,222 once or twice a day.

By the way, my word count for this post just now was 222.   =D.   (Oh, and word count is clearly the sort of distribution that would be skewed towards smaller digits, too)

Utilizing your logic, it would seem that we should be seeing 111 as often or even more frequently than 222, yet this does not happen to be the case for myself ,(and I am assuming for most of us).

Tinkerbell Says:

I would have to disagree. Yes it is true in life, that once you notice something for the first time, you tend to see it everywhere or experience it time and time again. However, what you usually find is that there is a reason for it. Synchronicity! Nothing happens really by chance. You are either receptive to the signs or you are not. I remember around by the time I started seeing 222 (mainly waking at 2:22am in the mornng for no apparent reason but always at that time) that I watched a programme on tv and the phrase ‘do not fall on your sword’ was mentioned. I had never heard it before and wondered what it meant. Sure enough, 3 more times in the same week I heard that phrase used on different programmes/movies on the tv. At that time, i was really wanting to do something about my situation. My partner had left me pregnant and had tried to bully me into termination when he left. I came so close to believing that termination was what I should do and if I did he may come back but it went against everything else I felt about that. I stood strong and I now have a beautiful daughter and I believe he never would have come back anyway. I did not ‘fall on my sword’ at that time. I believe now that it was a message to help give me strength as I have only a couple of times since (in 2 years) heard that phrase again.

Do you never find that you may hear a word or fact for the first time and within days an opportunity arises where you need to use it or understand it and that occasion is very important??

It is only by seeing the difference between daily life and signs that are given to us for spiritual guidance that you can enhance your receptors to this and yes when you do, you find that these signs are in your life more and more.

However, I do believe that each person has the freedom to believe what they want to and if this is not really for you, that is not a bad thing and it certainly won’t cause you any harm or make you a bad person.

In short, everything happens for a reason – cause and effect – it is a scientific fact.
